Looking for a new scope, and these two have caught my eye. I've seen lots of threads here where people love the Kahles K1050, but I haven't seen anything about the S&B. Does anybody have one? Has anybody compared them?
I have the “Sport” reticle which has a dot. The dot sub tends 0.19 MOA at 50 power. I had a “Sport Fine” reticle in which the dot was 0.09 MOA, but I had trouble seeing it under some conditions. The dimensions for S&B reticles can be found on their website under downloads/data sheets. The website can be found with a search for Schmidt and Bender. (I never remember the URL)What do you think of the reticle? How thick is it?
Not sure what Kahles scope you are referring to but I own the K1050 and the reticle is one of the simplest, cleanest, uncluttered I have ever seen. There is a floating dot and the x and y axis have short subtending marks. Excellent F-class scope.I have two. I sold the other scopes I had used on the same rifles. They work for me also. I have not compared them, mainly because I don’t care for the Kahles reticle, which is a little too busy for me. I’m sure the Kahles glass is excellent.
One of the reasons might be that the S&B is a porky bugger and that is a factor in F-class, for example. Compared to the Kahles you mentioned or the March High Master 10-60X56 or an 8-80X56, it's almost a half pound heavier. Many would rather put that weight in the barrel rather than the riflescope.I have the Schmidt, brilliant scope, really outstanding. It seems to be fairly unpopular amongst forum members, I was was also wondering why that would be? It sits at a high price point, but I don't see the need to buy anything else again, for target & general use, so, saving some money that way, by not having to upgrade in future.
I finally got a look through the Kahles. You’re right. The reticle is pretty simple and clean. Before, I had only seen the reticle on paper. I’ll still stick with my S&B’s, though, porky as they are.Not sure what Kahles scope you are referring to but I own the K1050 and the reticle is one of the simplest, cleanest, uncluttered I have ever seen. And all this time I thought it was your jeans making your scope look fat Bob! Well...I declare!I finally got a look through the Kahles. You’re right. The reticle is pretty simple and clean. Before, I had only seen the reticle on paper. I’ll still stick with my S&B’s, though, porky as they are.
Say what? infiniti is infiniti. There is no distance limit for the parallax. I do not know of a better scope for f-class than the 1050I do wish that the parallax adjustment went to 1000 instead of just 800 for us f-class guys
