K & M expandrel mandrel kits

I only have the one that I use to expand before I neck turn. Normally it leaves about .0005" neck tension measured on a turned neck O.D. before and after seating a bullet. I have a .3075" reamer and it's a perfect match. I can turn it with a bit of force with my fingers and it cuts loose any excess carbon without removing any metal unless there is a donut. Be sure to set them up with the long screw so it doesn't bottom out into the necks. The one I have is the standard expander for a .308 and it measures .3085" allowing for some brass springback. I may have to get a couple more because sometimes the brass doesn't spring back the same, especially after annealing. I use inserts in my Lee press and leave them a little loose (wiggle room) to allow the mandrel to self center. It seems to eliminate any runout.

I have them set up for 5-6 rifles, using the under sizes and the expander for turning. Just a couple of tips for new users ---- I don't use the screws, just adjust depth by looking thru the window on the press adapter. I use a few wraps of Teflon tape to snug up the thread on the mandrel holder, to keep it from moving in the adapter, after setting depth.

I also label each adaptor as to the size mandrel installed. It's easy to get the wrong one (don't ask). I like to neck size at least .0005" smaller than mandrel target and apply dry lube, prior to expanding.
Because of spring back, you will notice some variance in mandrel resistance. I will usually set the loose ones aside and resize the necks and expand again.

Hope this helps someone.

I haven't used the sizer but I do use their press. I had a difficulty with the first press and K&M sent a replacement part and a pre-paid shipping label for the problem part. Great press, Great customer service.

What's wrong with using the screw for setting the depth?

Nothing really. I use a windowed riser because I don't like the screw head banging on the flash holes if I pull the ram too far. I set the die to cam over and still have about .100" clearance between the mouth and die base. Either way works.
Thanks!
