Just how bad is a $90 barrel ?

also need to stop trying to shoot my AR's off of a front rest and rear bag and just run my bipod and bag . They just plain don't seem to work well of of a front rest . First two were rest last one was bipod

I think I'm with ya on that. Ima beginner with this AR thing, and so far my little Harris bipod shows promise. jd
Yeah everyone says use a front rest and rear bang with everything but man I swear I never shoot my AR's well with mine...mabye I need a better bag for my front rest or something but seems as soon as I switch back to a bipod and rear bag my groups close up....think imma just listen to the gun

I like to shoot off of a front rest and rear bag. Like you, I didn't think I was getting the best accuracy that way. Then I remembered the old trick of putting baby powder on the bags so the rifle would recoil consistently without sticking to the bag (especially in humid weather). Then I thought some more and realized that the forearm on my AR had all these flutes and on my most accurate AR, very sharp checkering.

So, when I shoot for accuracy off of bags now, I bend a piece of slick cardboard around the forearm and lay it in the front rest. I make sure that my rear stock's sling swivel isn't on the bag. This method really shrunk my groups. I'm assuming because the recoil movement across the bags is more consistent.

Know a few are enjoying the updates on this. She's still plinking along. Fun little shooter . Everything looks like it's smoothing. Out too, around 110 Rd in

Be nice if the grass was shorter but was fun just popping down steel off the tripod for once instead of paper. Much more relaxing shooting steel then paper
