Joystick Front Rest -- Recommendations?

I will be using it for F-class open and short range Benchrest.
Nobody uses such rests on a club match. I saw a Seb mini x just one time at nationals last year. People here use f-class bipods.
So, frankly speaking I am not sure whether seb neo or seb mini x would be the way to go.

Fair enough.
When I saw you were asking about an F-open or BR match, I assume you understand that the folks who shoot F-T/R have a different set of rules.

The F-Open and BR folks over there certainly use the whole variety of front rests including the Mini-X and Neo, Lenzi, Farley, etc.. Maybe visit a different club where they shoot regular F-Open or a BR club? That is, if you want to know about front rests and such.

First, you probably have to choose which game you will pursue in terms of F-T/R versus F-Open and BR. Bipods are a different question and there is an old saying about different horses for different courses that applies to shooting rules...

Plenty of good options have been mentioned here, but I subscribe to the theory of buy once, cry once with most equipment, and a front rest is one of them. In Australia, we have a fair mix of Farley and Seb's on the line. Farley's are no longer locally available so they're now harder to come by. I previously owned a pimped up Seb Mini with all the Bryan Blake F-class upgrades. It was a great rest, although generally took a little longer to set up compared to a Dolphin (UK made) co-axial I had previously. My rifles didn't complain in either rest. Recently I took the plunge and bought a Rodzill T-Rex with all the available options. This thing is at the upper end of the price range, but in my opinion is worth every cent. The ease of setup, functionality and quality is simply superb and for F-class, I can't think of a better front rest. We've now got some Lenzi rests in stock here and they are a work of art and cost around the same as the Rodzilla.

If you decide to get a Seb or Farley, I'd recommend buying the Rodzilla top for it - it makes your setup easier and in my opinion assists in recoil management due to the improved tracking it provides.

I don’t think the Rodzilla top is legal for some benchrest matches. You may want to check.

On that hasn't been mentioned, but I think is worth looking at, is the 21st Century Hybrid-X front rest. From all outward appearances it looks like a very nice platform to work off of. If I had the money I would most certainly buy and try one. Per the website it is about a 6 week wait for one which isn't bad at all. I have no connection to the company, just throwing out info on a decent looking rest.

I got to see and play with a Lenzi this weekend, it was smooth, and I seen some things I didn’t like….
I’ll stick to my Seb MAX

Haven’t seen the T Rex yet, I’m sure it would be the ultimate F Class rest

For an aging and increasingly lazy shooter the Seb-Mini works well with its portability and relatively light weight. It's also easy to use and set up while being solid and steady. Not to mention the innovative design and exquisite craftsmanship. It's also versatile as I've used it for 500 yard benchrest, F-class, and .22 rimfire benchrest club matches, etc.

Very tough to beat a Farley and you can find them used from around $800. Good luck getting a Lenzi. A fellow shooter waited 17 months. Covid in Italy sank their production and delivery times.

If you have a Farley and want the cat's arse conversion contact Dave Short in PA he does a great job in modifying the rest into a silky smooth affair.
Who is Dave Short in PA? Can you give contact information? Thanks

Hi Gabe, I’ve been looking at a new front rest (previous one is a Seb Neo) to be used for fclass open and Benchrest Rimfire. I recently tried a Lenzi in both formats and really liked it. Just curious about your feedback and the things you didn’t like? I don’t want to buy one then discover a shortcoming!!
Appreciate any comments mate.

I had an 'original' SEB rest until he came out with the NEO. I got one of the Neo's ASAP when that happened. I prefer the NEO to the Mini, but I am getting weaker as I age. Even my rifle is getting heavy to carry to the line. I may have to go to the Mini -X pretty soon :)
I've seen pictures of you! I wish I were in the condition you are and it wouldn't be nearly as hard to get my SEB MAX on the bench! LOL

I have a new SEB NEO-X and I must say I prefer it to my SEB-Neo. It is a bit lighter, folds up, and packs away in its own supplied bag for transportation. The head movement seems a little bit smoother than my NEO and it just feels like the work of art it is! You can’t go wrong with a NEO! P.S., the Neo weighs 24 lbs 8 oz and the NEO-X is 18lbs 10 oz on my scale without feet. At my age that is a lot less to carry to the line.

A shadetree top on a bald eagle base is a good option. I have a shelf full of joystick rests but the hybrid X from 21st century is my choice. Id sell those other ones if i didnt have to ship them

I have a Bald Eagle base with a Shadetree top and so far I like it. Now what to do with the Bald Eagle top?
