JEWELL TRIGGERS -- Future Prospects

Im in the camp that it was the best dang trigger for your buck hands down.
Yea the Flavio is better but look at the price difference, and the B&A is nice at more than 2x
Its a simple marvel and would do well if it came back at a bit of a price increase, however sadly
its time has come and gone an reduced to a memory for most.

Jewell triggers patent expired several years ago. They lost a lawsuit concerning their continued use of the patent number on their triggers along with Brownells.
They only assembled the triggers from parts made by outside vendors. I don’t see anything to sell.
Ok, I see your point but I do think other trigger mfgs are missing the boat here. Not sure about the naming rights value being protected but that alone would have value on a clone of equal quality, imho. Seems they would already be setup to make them with minimal cost once the programming is written. I disagree with those that believe the market for that trigger has left. No idea how many they sold but I could sell a ton of them today if I could get them. Making them has entered my mind but my insurance man would have a cow if I told him I'm gonna make and sell thousands of 2 ounce rifle triggers. Lol!

I have a couple of Shilen 2 oz triggers and thought they were about as good
as the Jewell but a little less user-friendly than theJewell when making
adjustments.

Shilen fixed an "out of warranty" situation for me at no extra cost----I think
they're good people to do business with.

I also have a Hart 2 0z trigger that I bought way back in 1980. This was
a very good trigger----don't know if Jewell was in business at that time.

Just before al this started with Jewell, I was able to pick up a few Jewells. I figure I'd be a fool to let them go before the trigger business gets settled.

Jewel was a great trigger but now it's time for us to move on. Even if someone buys the assets and starts back up, they won't be the same. Shilen, Trigger Tech, B&A, or FF will fill most of our needs.

It's the way of today. When a machine shop owner wants to retire and sell out their turn key operations, they often can't find a buyer and just close the doors. How many new bullet makers, stock makers, and gunsmiths do you see starting up today? It's too much work to own your own business. Especially with the way supplies are now. Go to work for the government or someone else and have no worries. Just bitch about management....

Has anybody used the Timney Benchrest Trigger.

3 to 6 ounces is not half bad. I would be curious as to how close it’s inner workings are to the Jewell.
I just received the #502B Timney Benchrest trigger and have used it a few times in a 6BR bench gun. It replaced the Jewel. I would buy another one if needed. Installed it and no adjustments needed. I could fine tune it but it is so close to perfect I have chosen to use it as is. A great plan B trigger

I think those would be prime potential buyers, but what do I know? An existing trigger mfg adding Jewell to their offerings just seems like a no brainer to me. Must be something up but no idea what.
That could work out like when I added Trigger Tech and Geissele to my Jewell line. Those were already a popular brand and I though would be a shoe in. It didn't work for me. I had those 2 brands in stock, that should have sold in 30days or less, but it took a yr and a half. I'll never understand what happened there????? LDS

It's certainly possible but I think being the sole mfr of the most popular br trigger, probably ever vs a distributor is apples and oranges. You had other dealers getting their piece of that pie where you were very well thought of specifically for jewell triggers with their market base. Different crowd and different scenario imho. Again though, what do I know? Nothing much, just my thoughts is all. But anything's possible. I know I'd love to see them being made again and I know a lot of others feel the same as I do. It's simply a very good trigger at a very fair price. Not knocking the BnA but they have their own issues and I really think that once we get into that sub 2 ounce range, most of the benefit from the lighter available pull of the bix is between our ears, more so than the target. Preaching to the choir here, in all liklihood. ;)

I own Jewell, Shilien and Hart triggers and my 75 year old trigger finger can't really tell the difference, but the 2 stage trigger on my Walther KKM is my favorite, but it's a rimfire target rifle. I do miss not being able to get Jewell triggers repaired though.
