Well along with a gun nut I also happen to be a music teacher and long time jazz lover.
lots of great stuff here.
Here’s a newer recording of Wycliffe Gordon at Cancer Blows with the 1 O’clock Lab Band from North Texas. Unbelievable musicians.

Only jazz I ever liked was the music from Charlie Brown shows.
one of my fave bass players is this guy..Doc,
My wife pulled up "According to Jim" and has had that on during the quarantine. As you probably know Jim Belushi is a blues musician, and the bass lines on the background music for the show are awesome. There are blues riffs, rock riffs, and jazz riffs. The most common jazz riff is a classic walking bass line that mixes low and high. I immensely enjoy it!
i wasn't much for playing jazz.. i did give it a try.. the drummer was John King.. and as for being above the leading tone.. that is a saweet way.. i admit, i really fell in love with the blues.. rock is what i started with.. moved to country.. never sat around listened to it.. but there was a lot of it that i really enjoyed playing.. it was fun.. but i have a love for the blues over everything!Victor Wooten is awesome!!
The walking bass line I like the best is 1625 with 1/2 step above leading tones.

Good for you.. thank you so much for sharing! love it my man!Jazz is probably then hardest music to play well. It takes everything I have just to tame the trumpet beast and play passable lead trumpet in a community jazz band. I have to do stuff like this most every day:
