It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

It's that time of year again. Let's see those big and small game kills of the '18-19 season.

First one of the year for me, not a trophy, a doe with the muzzleloader. Will yield some nice roasts, chip steak and lebanon bologna. :)
Now this is what I call a head shot, these coyotes better quit running during the daylight hours.Stick marks the entrance.DRT

Made a trip to Dale Hollow Lake (KY/TN border) and had some exciting times. We beat the water to a froth casting, switching baits both artificial and live with mixed results, but overall a satisfying experience. Very cool/overcast and two storm systems suppressed most activity; undaunted, we endured the worst, albeit with some frustrating periods of zero results.
Below is one of our most productive days, and my Buddy literally was so busy reeling them in, he stuck with a single rod. My luck was spread amongst multiple species.
I caught a personal best Channel Cat , a female gravid with eggs at 12 lbs, and an hour later caught a 15 lb male. Both were a struggle to land on light tackle.

Got into the blind a bit later than I intended; traffic over the 88 mile commute was snarled due to fender benders.
Could hear Gobblers sounding off in distance from all directions, so spirits were high.
Called softly, then made a racket with all three of my slate and copper striker calls to simulate squabbling Hens. Only one of the Gobblers committed, but was wary this late in the season.

He was followed by 3 Jake’s that were jockeying for a glimpse of my Hen and Jake decoys.

The Gobbler attacked my Jake decoy; meanwhile the Jake’s were investigating the Hen decoy.

This went on for about 2 minutes, all the while adrenaline building in both them and me.:)

Gobbler finally circled to the right just clear enough from the others, and……

22 1/2 lbs, and guessing 2 years old. Beard was severely damaged by ice/snow and broke off most of those modified feathers, but he will surely be delicious.
Starting with Turkey Nuggets in the Air Fryer.

Took the oldest and a buddy out for some chucks. 70* slight wind. Shots from 250-330 yards. 100 rounds fired between the buddy and myself.

13 rounds with the swift 55gr b tips @3820
8-10 with the 20 practical 40gr bibs @3950
30 or so with the 223AI 50gr btips @3800

Couldn't have asked for a better 5 hours of burning powder time with the friend ans my son. In a year or two he'll be pulling the trigger....hmmm do I "need" another rifle? great day to be outside in beautiful country.

Thank you @GotRDid !
