It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

Like the hat Don, is that wolf or grizz? Nice buck by the way.
That is a beaver hat that I had a good friend of mine trap for me out of a swamp in the Saegertown Pennsylvania area and had it made into a hat. Most unbelievably warm thing I think known to mankind! I would love to have a whole outfit made out of beaver pelts. Plus I wanted to make Jeremiah Johnston proud of me.;)

Couple bucks I got on my time off to hunt this year no monsters but happy with them

Local Hero Maverick Kaiman has done it again 3 years running at 12 yrs old. He’s something else... he loves to shoot deer. His uncle took him youth season last year and drove him crazy passing on several bucks. “Those are for little girls“ he said Lol the next day he shoots a big one. He’s not fooling around...

Son is a senior at WVU this year and is off to a good season. Opening day archery and gun today. Shot a doe with compound bow two weeks ago. I keep telling son that he and his buddies are going to cause the apartment manager to send a notice out that deer can’t be hung on apartments balconies!!

Circumstances beyond my control made it so I couldn't hunt the rifle season on private land so I had to resort to hunting some public land that's at least close to the house. A few years ago I got a very nice 8 point here but this year the Deer Gods sent me a smaller buck this year but I always think when you hunt public, you take what's given and appreciate it. After all, you don't eat horns.

Couple weeks at my place in Georgia. First two days and I take two nice does for meat.
IMG_5363.jpeg

Then the serious fun starts. 24 bucks later and I take no shot. Will only take a big buck and only if the horns are worthwhile. Give the meat away. Did try to get a shot at a giant from 270 to 300 yards. It would never even pause walking around chasing a bunch of does. Time after time I "begged" it to stop or at least pause. No luck and sick watching it go away.

I want to kill the thing, not wound it so a moving shot at that range is not reasonable. Passed up bucks from small 8's through a big 7 and 22 more bucks a bit smaller.
