It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

Not the one I have been hunting but it was time to go ahead and wrap up the bow season. Nice buck, no scales but he probably weighed about 200#. Quartered to me so I went through the shoulder and out the other side. My first kill using Afflictor broadheads. Blades held up, did not bend or break.IMG_20221112_115603330.jpg

Update, the rest of the story. Well after ending my hunt yesterday, my target buck shows up again this afternoon. There is the old adage about a bird in the hand  Rifle season opener is Saturday so there is still hope.

I am thinking there is a lot of effort and dedication put into those "trails" and that building. So interesting to see hunting in its various forms
That area where I did take those pictures is state owned nature reserve where is hunting allowed. For those areas state nature services usually makes those wooden trails (in finnish: pitkospuut) and buildings free to use.

Then there are those old trails and cabins which are almost 100 years old, we have so much those wetlands here that at my hunting grounds there used to be tens of kilometers wooden trails accross and around swamps. But it is sad that those are almost all gone, you may find some of those if you use old maps.

Got this guy opening morning in northern MN with my daughter in the stand with me.
She is 11, and wanted to hunt this year but she was to nervous to shoot anytime I was at the range, she finally did work up the courage to shoot a bit right before season, so I told her she could hunt, but would be limited to 60yds, which she agreed to. This one stepped out of the woods at 175 yds, So felt like a jerk telling her “nope, thats too far for you” but now she has plenty of motivation to practice for muzzleloader season, and next year. It was a fun hunt, my brother brought his girl to sit with him for the first time and they saw 17 deer opening day together.
