It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

I'm back for another season. Leaves are on the trees still in central Ohio....which makes me take the shotgun. Two months ago I tore a bicep muscle in my left arm. Surgery and Physical therapy and I'm making my way back. But I'm still having difficulty with certain tasks. (Especially since I'm left handed at many things) I've been out twice, once with my 22lr, but I really don't like the 22 until the leaves are almost gone. So it's shotgun time. The shotgun pictured below is (according to 'my internet research') a 12 gauge 1950's Italian side-by-side. Imp and Mod chokes....26" barrels. With the shorter barrels and no guts like pump/semi, it's very short...and surprisingly light. But it KICKS!! The gun was a gift about 5 years ago from my oldest friend. (We've been good friends since 1975) Since it's so light, I can carry it with my right hand for long distances/times.

It was a nice day out, but the forecast was for increasing wind. I saw two fox squirrels chasing each other, and thought I'm bound to get one of them. But they ran off. I finally heard a red squirrel (not something I normally shoot/hunt), and stalked it. I think it saw me and ran off. I waited to see if it would reappear, but nothing. I decide to head back to the car....I take about 5 steps and I see a fox squirrel on the ground about 25 yards from me. What a surprise! It jumps up on the trunk of a tree and starts moving up. I'm hoping...really hoping it will come around for a look. And it DOES come on my side of the tree, I fire and it drops.

Wow excellent work, your screwed now buddy. Bow is the greatest feeling and congrats to your start, damn fine start sir... skip the does and straight to work!
Thanks ! I have been shooting the bow for a couple of years and felt very confident that inside 35 yards was going right where the pin was pointing. Being up in the tree and seeing this all play out was quite a rush. Now I will be looking for the fattest doe I can find for the other half of the tag. ( We get an either sex and an antlerless tag with a bow license in IL)

Im on my muel deer hunt right now in AZ. Wind is not being friendly between 15-40 mph. Got 7 days left. Only seen 2 does. Not looking good yet.

Tagged out....No tag soup for this team!
Nice little 2 point
My Grand Daughter spotted this "mighty beast" prowling the woods.

Such a special day with her.
She couldn't wait to eat some fried deer heart.

Fusion 10mm Longslide.
180gr Speer flat point
45 yards
In below the right ear and out by the left ear.
Dead before it hit the ground.

Now to be honest, I was holding a little over going for a neck shot.
Held a little "too over"....Hit a little high but it worked great,
