Another youth hunt success. After putting in for the last five years the wifes nephew finally pulled a youth tag. We were able to seal the deal on a nice Coues deer opening evening. The 260 Ackley made quick work at 561 yards. He made a perfect shot and the deer dropped in his tracks.

I hunt just north of Columbus, Ohio. In the woods here, there are no grey squirrels...only fox and reds. Reds are just annoying. The fox squirrels around here are just HUGE. I use a 12 gauge with #4 birdshot with a full choke. They need some extra thump. When the leaves are off the trees, I'll switch to a 22. No, the pics aren't backwards, I'm left handed.

Good two days! Yesterday was two fox squirrels. (middle picture above) Today was three fox squirrels in 20 minutes! (I switched over to a 22) This makes up for going out several times in September and getting zilch.

More "Chicken of the Tree".

October has turned out to be a great time for squirrel hunting. I'm on track for my best season ever. After September's disastrous run (I think I got NOTHING), it's nice to have an above average month. Although I'll admit, I go out less when the trees are green and full, and it's hot...and mosquitoes are active. I hunt alone and without a dog.

I hope this continues. Last season was one of the best in almost 10 years. Before that, winter of 2018-19 was one of the worst on record. (for me)

Two more feral pigs last night with the 300 Blackout and Barnes 110 TAC-TX. Both were at 300 yards, pushing the BLK.

My wife got it done again. This time on a nice Desert Muley. She shot this buck with one perfectly placed shot at 877 yards with her .260 Ackley and 140 Bergers. Dropped in his tracks.
