It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

It's that time of year again. Let's see those big and small game kills of the '18-19 season.

First one of the year for me, not a trophy, a doe with the muzzleloader. Will yield some nice roasts, chip steak and lebanon bologna. :)
I almost thought I was shooting a large caliber varmint rifle , after seeing the in and out destruction done on this poor guy. When in reality I realized it was only a 17 hornet.15.5 grain Hornady NTX superformance, about 3850 fps.

Finally got the son of a b$?&h that’s been tearing my backyard up. First time I have shot anything with my new 17 HMR. About a 50 yard shot. I’m impressed. He didn’t flinch an inch but oderized the area with a fresh garlic like scent

Two more recently that decided to be carried by 6 rather than judged by 12 ;)

I'm back for another season. I don't hunt squirrels too much early in the season. The heat and mosquitos keep me away. But we've had some cool weather and the mosquitos seem really off this year. I've been out with this O/U a few times. This gun doesn't get used too much. Being left handed, I've wanted an O/U since the 70's. I have an 870 express (left handed!) that is the best fitting shotgun I've ever put to my shoulder. I found out what the stock dimensions are (heel drop, length of pull...etc) and found this CZ shotgun that has the same stock dimensions...but I had to order it and have it FFL locally. Of course, when it came and I put it to my shoulder...it's not the same as the 870. So I don't know if I'd use it as a bird gun. But it makes for a good squirrel gun. I set it up as if I have two different guns: One barrel is set up for long shots with a full choke and 4 or 6 shot. The other barrel is set up for close shots with imp choke and 7 1/2 shot.

Once the leaves fall, I'll switch over to a 22 or 17hmr.

Filled my 2nd big game tag now with the muzzleloader. About a 70 yards shot in the neck where it lay. Windy and rainy but conditions were right and they were in the right spot to get close enough.
The other buck stood up after the shot and then layed back down when his buddy was taking a nap. Probably my best buck to date. 25" inside spread. No meat wasted big body will eat nicely. Extremely happy

Groundhogs yesterday.Saw 9 dropped 6 , shots were all at 200 yards +nice and fat eating alfalfa. I'm well north of 200 this year. One was 14 lbs.The treeline is just at the 200 yard mark, they're dug in the tree roots and enter the field to eat.

Drew a Wyoming goat tag after 9 years. Started at 710 yards and was walking away, shot ended up at 724 yards quartering away. 6.5 Sherman Max sending a Cutting Edge 140 grain Lazer at 3,080fps entered back of the ribs and left a golf ball exit in the off side shoulder dropping him in his tracks. Then it was time for some dogs ! Furthest was just under 700 yards shooting the sherman, 260 ackley, and 223 AR. The funnest was shooting 22LR out to 250 yards in the wind. I think all of us are going to build a custom 22LR now.
Did some spotting scope comparing and by far the Swarovski BTX is the best for judging goats. We had the BTX with 95mm, ATX 65mm, Meopta S2, Kowa TSN 880, and Swaro ATC. Kind of did the same with the bourbons !
Best shot of the trip was my buddy's 54 yard shot with his CC baby Glock on the 5th try(it actually shoots a bit high and right so he probably would have hit it sooner).
Love me some Wyoming !View attachment 1591321View attachment 1591322View attachment 1591323View attachment 1591324View attachment 1591325View attachment 1591326
That last image sure brings a tear to a KY Boy’s eye!

Thursday got my bean field cut, laid up in between the John Deeres tires and shot 10 gh's 200 to 255 yards, moved to another part of the field and shot 4 more. 7 hours in the field , saw about 20 . all drt most in or near their holes as they are spooky now that their covers been cut, the 17 hornet performed flawlessly, so did the shooter.Check below in reply for more pictures.
