All the hunting rules in our state are put in place by the west side of our state, (Oregon). That is the fuzzy feel good side of the state. Last week there were two tv reports of little girls being attacked by coyotes in the Portland area, one was bitten and the other just scratched up.
Add this to the many reports of mountain lions in backyards there as well as the person who was killed in Washington while biking and you can plainly see that the, rules put in place by the "we need to protect them" fuzzy headed people on the west side of both states are incapable of grasping the facts that you must control predators or they will just consider you another meal on the menu.

It is a shame that these people who think they are so smart are in reality so stupid that they can't see that they must change the rules or more people are going to be mauled or killed, which is certainly what is going to happen.

Several years ago my brother and I were building a new house for a man that owned quiet a bit of land and ran cattle. It was in the early spring and he stopped by to see if we needed anything and to talk. He mentioned that he had moved his cows up to the front of his farm near his house so he could keep an eye on them because the coyotes would get his new born calfs if he didn't, then went on a tirade about how he hated coyotes. I asked why his deer hunters didn't kill them? His reply was that he didn't want anyone on his propety or deer hunting! Pick your poison I suppose.


I don't think people being attacked or even killed will change these stupid peoples views on hunting. Do you guys remember the guy that said Grizzly bears were like humans and could be lived with like humans? They found him and his girlfriend in or near their camp half eaten and buried with the grizzly bears laying on them protecting their kills. I wonder at what point he realized he was wrong?

I let the tree huggers I encounter know that I also am an animal on this planet, and I did not drop out of the sky from another celestial location, and have as much right to be here as the critters do.

Hey SPJ, both of our minds must run on narrow gauge tracks as I often have the same thing happen to me.

I live in a city of 25x,xxx and I saw coyotes running around just about everywhere (I drove a city bus for 27 years). I often see postings of cats and dogs that have gone missing and I always have to mumble to myself 'have you talked to the coyotes in the neighborhood?'.

Our neighborhood association held a meeting to discuss the deer damage being done on their properties and what to do about it. My wife and I went because we needed a laugh at the time. When the discussion got to the 'what to do about the deer', and the suggestion was made to trap and move them. The city said that trapping and moving was too expensive and time consuming and said the only really effective way to control them was to have 'designated marksmen' shoot them. The howling started and my wife and I left, LOAO!

A number of years ago, there was a mountain lion that made his way in from Wi. to Chicago's Wrigleyville area. It was shot and killed by the police. There was an unending wave of complaints against the department for doing that. Of course no one thought about the children....

There were 2 cougars spotted in Ahsland propper a couple weeks ago.
LEO shot.... and missed. Guessing we still got 2 cats calling Ashland home.

There are many land owners who had a bad or several bad experiences. With Smart phones it is easy to control your land and allow people to have access. It is also amazing how many farmers and ranchers will not WILL NOT work to solve a problem like this. What I did for a neighbor was make a map of the area with his land very clearly marked and labled. At the bottom was a few lines that gave access to the areas listed and a place for their drivers license. Then all he had to do was take a picture of it and give it to the hunter. I told him to do it for every one in the vehicle and take a picture of the license plate also. Many just will not do that so they can not hunt. He does have great land for hunting. some ask why and when you tell them if anything is messed up the cops have a starting point.

Your second point you are 100% right. A kid could die every day and all they would want you to do is be locked in your home by X hour and letting kids outside would not be allowed. Nothing would ever change until a child or grandchild of a lawmaker died then something would change.

It's true, you cant fix stupid.....but you can vote them out.....sometimes. Unless of course you are outnumbered, then you just have to live with it and watch it get worse. My mother-in-law and her entire family sleep, eat, live, breathe and die horses. She has this friend {democrat} that owns a big farm and has very expensive horses. The place is over run with woodchucks and one day I asked her if I could hunt there. You would have thought I was asking to murder her first born!! Then one day a $30,000.00 colt {yeah, 6 months old} stepped in a woodchuck hole and broke his leg. Her answer???...she goes and has a bunch of wooden boxes made and sets out in the fields and woods so the woodchucks have a "place to live without digging a hole"...........my only response was, "you're a special kind of stupid aren't you??? She just could not understand it when a woodchuck dug a hole right under one of the boxes.
The idea that more coyote attacks on kids will wake them up.....I doubt it, if illegal aliens coming across the border by the thousands haven't done it, well, I wouldn't count on animal attacks to "enlighten" any dems any time soon!!!

I live in Portland now, grew up in Klamath falls. It saddens me to death to see what the blue side of the state does to the sane ones here. There’s more red on the west than you may realized, though. All I can say is vote out the garbage and refresh Oregon with a new organization of sane, hard working, Christian, concervatives.

Oregon has 36 counties and three or maybe four on the west side have the biggest populations that fight each other to see who can be the most stupid when it comes to voting. This is the reason our state always shows up blue instead of red.
