issues loading 45acp

Did you ever figure this one out? If not, what press are you using?

I had the same issue with my .45 dies in a Lee Deluxe Turret. Finally figured out that the turret head was just ever so slightly out of timing. The plastic ratchet on the index bar had worn. Replaced that ratchet and things were smooth from then on. So die alignment with your shell holder could be an issue.

This was happening with my Lee seating die, that was not set to crimp.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Havn't been on in a while.
It is a lee progressive.
Yes, I worked it out. The resizing die was not going into the brass enough to open it up adequately.

Glad you found your issue, just as you found out, it is 99% of the time and need for just a slight more flaring of the case mouth.

Although you've got your problem addressed, still look into some NOE Expander Plugs.
They'll drop right into your Lee dies, and offer you specific two stage expanding choices, without belling your brass.
They're only like $6.50 each.
A must have for loading lead bullets properly.
