Issue with the 20 tactical

Matt my Tac 20 has 1-11 twist..I use the same Dakota brass..Benchmark powder & the Sierra 39 grain bullet...It needs to be cleaned every 60 to 80 shots..After a string of ten to twenty..Just running a dry patch helps remove some carbon...I've used WS2 coatings but the bare bullets seem to shoot better groups...Not enough testing w the coated, sorry..One other thing about the neck/tension/turning...Check for brass flow from the shoulder..Not really a dounut Just some extra un-needed tension at the base of the bullet can really mess with groups...If you start seeing vertical in what was a good group REALLY look & feel up that cartridge...I need a good tubing micrometer..but loading without that tool .When you are seating the bullets try to feel for the increased neck tension..Keep those rounds separate from the more normal feel when seating ....Hope that helps ...Mike in Ct

Matt, I've got an 11 twist kreiger with a .233 neck and I'm shooting 8208 and a 35 Berger with excellent results. I'm using the Dakota brass also. That combo has been working great for a calling rifle.

the most popular reamer print shows .233 neck, can you slip a bullet into the fired case by hand? if so, then you have enough clearance..a tight neck can show up in the form of pressure. do you have signs of pressure? I have finished load development of both my 20tac's and I can tell you, there was maybe one load with benchmark that shot ok, but with 322 all the loads shot great and four shot under 1/2 in. I am sold on 322 for my 20tac's good luck

I just checked and was able to slip a bullet into a fired case. I checked with 5 different fired cases. And remeasured the fired cases at .2315-.2325

What kind of velocity are you getting with that? And your having good luck with the 35gr Bergers on coyotes? This rifle will be used as my main coyote rifle!! I believe mine is a 11 twist as well.

Matt, I never got around to checking speeds on that load as I was running out of time. I've had great results with the 35 Berger though but like anything else placement is key. Another bullet to consider is the 39gr. Speer, they're priced right when you can find them.

Well brass has been cleaned and prepped, trimmed, and ready to go. Trying cci primers this time. Rifle has been cleaned and rounds have been loaded. New scope, new base, new rings. 39gr sierra blitzkings behind 8208xbr. Hopefully get out and try next weekend. I sighted rifle in Friday, and went out and dropped a coyote Saturday morning. First blood for the 20 tac! Hopefully I can get s good load for it

I got a brand new cooper in 20 tact. it has a 26in barrel. it is a shooting machine but only with 32gr bullets. I have killed a ton of sage rats with it and it is now my go to coyote gun. I have taken them out to 500 yds but love it at around 200yds and they never know what hit them! I have tried lots of loads but now just stay with h-335 and 32gr bullets @ 3950fps. this gun doesn't like any bullets over 32grs!
Thinking that Cooper is a twelve twist, ergo it's like for 32 grain bullets. If you want to shoot a 40 that kills coyotes very well try the 40 Berger,it is shorter than all the other 40s and does awesome in my 13 twist PAC-NOR.My 20Tactical improved was built back when all you could get were 33 grain V-Max's.The 40 Berger works very well on coyotes and groups amazing too.
Give it a try.
Matt
