Is this rest worth investing in?

I'm going to get the Bald Eagle. I didn't realize you could get one for that price. I was looking in the wrong places. I guess the heavier rests are better when comparing cast iron vs Aluminum?

Good choice. The cast iron rest is the safer bet- if it's not too heavy (people with back issues). Although some shooters can shoot as well from the aluminum rest.

I have the cast iron. My wife has the aluminum. She out shoots me. If I were you, I'd opt for the aluminum!

Mt Shade Tree top on a Bald Eagle aluminum bottom works great for me. The Caldwell will only disappoint you, probably at the worst time. Fellow shooters who have Seb's and try mine say it feels just as solid.

I think there is something to be said about weight in a rest. You don't want your rest to move when you fire and Weight and rigidity (they usually coincide) is the only way to beat it.

I shoot rimfire off of my Bald Eagle aluminum and it really doesn't need the cast iron weight. If I shoot the 12 LRPV savage, then I have an iron one for that. I have found that the weight of the gun is just as important as the rest weight.

I have a shooting buddy with the cast iron model, he has cobbled on it extensively and it is still bottom of the coax line.
