is this common

I have a savage 223 LRPV with a 7 twist, i am shooting the 80 amax bullet sighted in, i then try some 70 nosler rdf's and they shoot 4" left and 4" i could see higher but that much to the left and 55gr are even a little more left. is this due to the twist. or a dud of a barrel

It has to do with barrel harmonics. Quite common. As in, every barrel I've ever seen shoot does it to some extent.

Sight in the 55s at zero and see if the others go right by the same amount.
PDog shots too far out are my example.
We shot 55 gr with 1.5 dog holdover.
40 grain shot lower by standing dog.
My friend and i discussed maybe the 40s got out sooner than the 55s so less muzzle rise or barrel flip influence to raise poi??
Similar with a model700 6mm remington. High and right 87 grain, lower and righter with 70 blitz. 2 different powders each too!
Are you consistent pulling horizontal somehow that demonstrates greater with heavier or lighter bullets?
I need to work on my hold for sure and lots of things i dont even know about.
Please know im not the technique instructor by any means, just saw a potential smilarity.

I tried 55's in my 7 twist F/TR in .223.

It wasn't even on the target backer board. Too light and you have a terrific spin in 1:7.

Knowing how you shoot " one hole " hard to believe you didn't hit the target backer . See you after the hunters finish sighting . Be Well .
