Is There an Actual Difference in Accuracy between the .222 Rem and the .223 Rem.

Having owned a number of 222's and 223's and nothing scientific it seems it is easier to find an accurate load in the 222 than the 223.
This is my finding too but I can't say I've compared a bunch of different ones to come up with those findings. I grew up with a Rem 700 BDL varmint special in 223. Loved that gun but my uncle traded it and I always missed it so later got myself one chambered in 222 and then another in 22-250. Of all of them the Deuce seems to be the most inherently accurate but the 250 isn't far behind. Call me crazy but I think I'd take a fast twist 22-250 over either of them and have thought real hard about building one for heavy bullets.

As a long time fan of the .222, and a new guy to this forum, I find this thread not only very informative but exciting to see that there is still such intrest in the "deuce". In addition, I can not help but notice that the various opinions are stated without the customary trash-talk that I saw on another forum and to which I no longer subscribe. It's very refreshing to say the least.
Over the years I have owned two .222 and both were Remington 722's. FWIW, I sold the first one because of what is best self diagnosed as genetic stupidity that results in me selling off guns that I really like and eventually become recognized as "classics". It is a sickness, no question about it.
Anyhow, I am currently in the throes of once again reloading for the .222 (took a very long break from it) and having a heck of a time seating small rifle primers in Norma brass. Ordered a primer pocket reamer set and hoping that these tools will shave some of that primer pocket brass away and permit primer seating. Going to go back to the IMR 4064 as a trusted propellent for 50/55gr bullets and do some ladder experiments with Varget for the .222.
