Good point…The 223 was around for 12 yrs before the PPC cartridge. I bought my first and for 40 yrs my only 223 in 1966. I bought it overseas as the AF armorer would give me all the free ammo I could shoot.

This is my finding too but I can't say I've compared a bunch of different ones to come up with those findings. I grew up with a Rem 700 BDL varmint special in 223. Loved that gun but my uncle traded it and I always missed it so later got myself one chambered in 222 and then another in 22-250. Of all of them the Deuce seems to be the most inherently accurate but the 250 isn't far behind. Call me crazy but I think I'd take a fast twist 22-250 over either of them and have thought real hard about building one for heavy bullets.Having owned a number of 222's and 223's and nothing scientific it seems it is easier to find an accurate load in the 222 than the 223.
