The Local police department should have a section that preforms background checks for employers. He can go to them and pay the fee for a back ground check.
seems simple to me. The guys not gonna hide anything from the gvt. he wants to get it right from here on. id just go try to buy a gun and see what happens. if he gets denied there is no penalty and he can pursue it how he wants from there. make sure he is honest on 4473. and get a copy of it and keep a record of date, shop ect.The next-door neighbors kid got in some trouble right out of high school, now 15 years later and changing his ways he asked me if there was a way to find out if he was eligible to own a firearm. I had heard years ago if you try to buy a gun and get a negative on the background check, it is treated as a crime. I have no idea what to tell him. I tried a google search and got a lot of garbage but nothing that had an answer. He said he was convicted of a felony and served 30 days. I thought a felony got you a year or more??? thanks, he is turning into a pretty good kid

Dude, he was drunk and high. Give him a break man!Didn't get the memo , Huh ? Only Hunter gets to LIE on a 4473 and not have anything happen . The rest of us will get Prosecuted .

If they had their Civil Rights (firearms possession and voting) restored through the Courts, yes they can. Not every felony is permanent No go for firearms. 9/10 times they will get a NICS delay, but it will be sorted out.Short answer convicted of a felcoy no can't own a firearm.
The phrase,” Have you EVER been convicted of a felony or Family Violence?” Means ever. Expunging will not make EVER go a way.
I would just go buy one and see what happens answering truthfully.
