Is there a device that protects against trigger-touch misfires?

Rest your trigger finger on the inside bottom of trigger guard, rest your middle finger on the outside of the trigger guard. This will give you some where to rest without your trigger finger having to float. When you find your condition slid both fingers back till the gun fires. One of the guys I used to shoot with showed me this and I tried it and thought it was stupid. He insisted i shoot this way for the whole range session before giving up. He is right with a little practice it works very well and I have no ADs or what I call bump offs.

We are talking about a Benchrest Rifle with less than 2 ounces of trigger pull.

You simply have to be careful. You just had a real life lesson in just how careful you have to be.

Shoot enough rounds with the trigger and this will not be something you worry or even think about.

Came here to say exactly this. The device that OP is looking for is a 2-stage trigger.

Do you think this will work? It's an organizer tray divider (from my fishing organizer tray) affixed as shown with Gorilla tape which works as a hinge. It's easy and quick to insert my trigger finger, but it protects the trigger when I'm not intending to shoot. All comments are welcome!

But credit where it's due, that's the only good/reasonable solution I've ever seen. I've only shot a "zero" once... but it was painfully embarrassing.

Booger Hook ADs happen in handguns also.

Back on topic,
If you really want a light trigger, dry fire practice and muscle memory with all those extra fingers might be all that is needed (or Gorilla tape the extra fingers to you palm ).
After you decide you really need a 2 oz trigger.
