I am getting closer to buying my first .01 grain capable scale. Right now i have a RCBS Chargemaster for powder dispensing/weighing. I have read post after post on the subject of scales. The restriction I have is my budget. 500 is really my budget. I see the 120i is around 650.00 I can work with that amount if I push my budget. I want to have a digital vs balance beam.My question is this my only choice around this price point? When I look at the scale sites that sell the FX120i the amount of other scales is mind boggling. If there was a stable .01 grain resolution scale available for 450.00 that would be great.
Any advice is welcome

Get it from Canada,, Some guy just said he paid 450 for his. Matt

Linko , I would say yes it is cnd pricing since they are based in Canada . my credit card took care of adjusting the exchange price when I bought mine .

$610 cdn = $430.44 us

I bought mine from Cambridge very recently. It actually used to be $500CAN, but they raised the price since the currency exchange has been in our favor.

US currency has been doing extremely well over CAN the last few months I think it's actually cheaper to buy one now than when I purchased and I waited and watched for almost 2 months.

The website is a little tricky. You have to register an account than send a request to buy. You'll get a response after a day or two and you log-in and go to "orders" to complete your purchase. Checkout is through Paypal. They hide about 3% into the exchange fee which I imagine they pocket.

I ordered mine from the Cambridge (linked above). I was very happy with the shipping time. I've had zero problems from mine and would buy one again. The Promethus is my next step.

I purchased mine in February 2014. Then it was $400 CAD for the scale plus $25 shipping. It cost me $380-$390 USD to my door. I would still pay what they want today if mine quit tomorrow.

Is this scale as complicated as the manual looks? There is a ton of info and settings,etc... This might be on my radar very soon to replace my GP 250 scale

Not at all. Just follow the manual and you won't have any problems.

That may be the best balance to buy,,,,,new!
But, if you have any ambition, check out ebay precision lab balances. If you are careful, you can find a fine balance for $100 to $200. Just don't buy one that is not listed as tested and working. If the balance was not tested, or doesn't come with a power unit, they probably are selling junk.
If indeed it is tested and working, make sure it reads to 0.001 gram or 0.02 grains. Some balances will read in grams only, that's O.K. if you don't mind converting grains to grams. Some will read out in a bunch of units, just make sure it reads out in something you understand. Don't buy a little tiny balance as it probably measures by strain gauge. Drift is excessive. It should be magnetic restoration. And, it should have a wind screen. 0.001 gram balances WILL be upset by very tiny drafts!

I have an Ohaus TS-120 ( as well as a TS-200 and a spare TS-120 for parts. And I am a happy re-loader.

I ordered & paid for mine Monday & haven't received a shipping notice. I'm beginning to wonder myself.
I paid on Monday/18th. Tracking shows it will be here on Monday.
It didn't show where it originated from but the 1st departure from the states was Port Huron, MI
