Is Texas HS football big!

There is enough, beef, cotton and wild game in Texas that they can feed and clothe themselves. As i see it, oil has been low and oil has been high, hurricane floods have been high. Texas is still there thriving on their ability to be diverse in economics.

Iowa without corn would be where?

Football is indeed big in Texas as it is in a lot of places. It has become fashionable to build large stadiums, if the district can afford it, because they can be rented out for smaller school's games at times and the large seating capacity brings in lots of money for the athletic program and the school in general. As with all sports sometimes shenanigans occur in different places. For instance Carter High in Dallas was big and won state . Later they had some players get arrested and go to prison, hence the moniker Carter Convicts.
College football is big and scholarships are at stake. Some parents either move or pay transfer fees to get their kids into a bigger more competitive district so they can showcase their skills. A friend of mine did just that. His son was a great baseball player and later got in the minors and worked his way up. He never could have got the recognition in a small school. Lets face it, sports are big money events and Alumni will support their school and it's players in various ways. My cousin was a quarterback for TCU back in the day and he was given a summer job working for Bell Helicopter. he worked that job all through school and they made it permanent after graduation. He had a career there.

I know two families that did this apartment renting for their sons so they could play for a different high school in order to get more playing time. They were both very good players but their original high school was a really large high school where it is was hard for a good player to stand out. It paid off because both got scholarships to play at college and although second level smaller colleges they got scholarships.
