Is Sharp Shooter Supply still in bussiness?

I have had both good and bad experience with them, but the work is always top notch.
There are not a lot of options when it comes to Savages and that is his specialty.
As for stocks I was told a few years ago that they are third party made and forth party finished.

I don't know about now, but years past, when SSS used *fiberglass* stocks from Stockade Gun Stocks (Chadron, NE) they eventually ended up at loggerheads. After several rounds of B.S., Lisa @ SSS told me to call Stockade, because "she didn't know why it wasn't ready yet". When I called the guy @ Stockade, he was pretty entertained by that, and said that he'd never even started my order (despite claims that it was 'almost ready to paint') because SSS was deeply delinquent in paying him for stocks that had been shipped. So I had to start my order over with him, and surprise surprise, it was completed and shipped in a timely fashion.

About six months later was when SSS suddenly started making all their own *laminate* stocks... which looked like direct rip-off copies of the Stockade models at the time. Guess someone figured getting a stock duplicator and doing it themselves was cheaper than paying a third party for stuff already delivered.
I have seen many companies over the years that run into financial difficulties they end up consistently robbing Peter to pay Paul, venders become weary and slow there support until payment in full. Your check may have went to pay a different bill it can snowball for small businesses that are actually terrific people.
I'm not saying this is the case however it certainly mirrors past experiences.
I hope for the best outcome for all parties.
Sincerely
South Prairie Jim

Not saying this is the case here, but it is not unheard of for small business failure involve the owners using customer money for personal benefit rather than to purchase the necessary materials for the business. The result is typically a pattern like what is being described in this case.

Anyone who has ran a small business knows the challenges of just getting caught up when unexpected expenses pop up like a major piece of equipment fails or someone falls ill orders get canceled and of course there is the IRS. I've been there myself and paid my employees and bills first. Never have I bought a new truck or taken a vacation with customer money.
I don't expect this would be the case with SSS either.

If that was the case here they would have been out of business years ago when they started

Looks like I'm definitely in the minority here but I have never had anything but good service from Fred and Lisa on many orders. Lisa always picked up when she recognized my number. I always got my stuff within a couple of weeks of when they told me. If Fred needed to ask me a question, she would go get him and put him on the line. No chitchat from him, just the details.

I spent a lot of money with SSS back in the early - mid 2000s. Sounds like they just got too big and weren't able to manage it very well. I also heard that Fred was down ill for a while. That will put a proprietorship behind quickly and sometimes they just can't recover.

God bless them. They really are good people.
