Is N165 as temperature stable as H4831sc?

what do you guys call realistic good es ?

6-12 fps for five 5-shot groups, within each group. Shots fired at 30 second intervals. The average velocity will usually increase slightly as the barrel heats but each group should hold the ES. Each of my three F-Open rifles, .300 WSM, .284 Shehane and 6BR, will hold those numbers with a load tuned using a very similar method as Erik.

Thank you both Erik and Steve. Now I have a target range to work toward. My 6.5 Creedmore and my .308 F-TR loads fell into those ranges, ES and Nodes, but I haven't gotten my 7 RSAUM in that range yet. I did find that Tula primers worked much better for ES then the F210M's did.

I finally found a node range for my RSAUM that stays between 6 and 9 ES for nearly a full grain of H4831SC and pushes the 180 Berger Hybrid right at 3000 fpm in the middle, while holding all loads under .4 MOA with one at .1 MOA measured at 200 yards. In testing I found that the N160 loads just peaked very quickly and didn't allow much of a node range. The perfect N160 load was as accurate as the H4831SC load, but move a little away from that, at 82F ambient, and it went all over the place. That N160 powder is just too touchy about heat.

That is right where you want to be. Now, Load to the middle of that range and run your seating depth test in .003" increments. You will find what you need.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Right in the middle was where I found a .2 MOA at 3004 FPS, so I'm going to stay with that load.

VV165 works best in my 6.5-284 I think you will like it.
