Is it really worth it? Varget.

So is Varget really worth that price if you have other good powders available.
I almost caved to $75 a pound. But I stepped back and took several deep breaths.
I have just started the process to learn to reload. Right now for 308 only
I do have several other good powders.

Although varget is a great powder there are other powders out there that will give extremely accurate loads as well. It is up to the individual to decide if it is "really worth it" .

I was in a local gun store today, Rim Country Guns in Payson Arizona in case anyone is interested, they had 15-20 one pounders of varget, no limit. 54.99

I’m good on Varget, left it for those who may be low.

IMO Personally NO powder is worth over $ 32.95 per lb. retail ,as with primers manufacturers are SPANKING shooters and reloaders HARD !. Materials and SARS-CoV-2 labor shortages , DIDN'T do any of those price gouging hikes . Conglomerate absorption consolidation and Corp. Greed did !.

" IF " enough shooters put the brakes on reloading and DON'T purchase at extortion prices ,they will fall !.
The real question is how long can you hold off !?.

Jan. 2020 I purchased #2 ,1K cases of 9mm 124 Gr. Federal and Sellier & Bellot $150.00 & $160.00 respectively shipped and delivered to our house . Shortly there after as we all know to well the PLANDEMIC ,turned our world upside down . An as we all should know a certain party never lets a crisis go to waste !.

Start looking at who's buying up Bankrupted firearm related businesses and who's allowing Law suits against manufacturers . Funny how lawyers are professional Liars as well !!!.

Have an unopened 8 lbs of Varget that I got some years ago. Still have quite a bit in another 8 lb jug. Just don't get to shoot a lot of the rifle anymore. But I'll hang onto it in case I do.

In addition to IMR4064 give Accurate 4064 a try. I got some recently and its been doing a good job in my 308 win. Also shooters world precision rifle is a good stand in for varget. However looks like its caught on and prices are creeping on that now.

I assume if Varget was better, people would be importing it.

Varget is banned in Europe, via REACH:

A larger list of banned powders is here:

Vihtavuori powders, I've used 150, 550,140,540 as Varget substitutes for years dpeneding on my case needs and bullet weights. It is has been readily available here in Canada.
