is a HOWA action a good action

I was wondering if a trued howa action would be a good action for a bench or varmint rifle.,

Varmint rifle yes, bench rest rifle, no.

I've seen many Howa's that will shoot MOA or better, but not much better. The factory barrel is as good as anyone else's.

The trigger stinks

The lock time is one of the slowest out there.

Good stocks aren't easy to come by.

Spend a few more bucks and buy a Savage or a Remington

As was noted, except for the trigger, it's not bad. It really does suck. If you have a machine shop and the skills to use it, you can do amazing things with a 1500's trigger and bolt. I know a guy that did just that and said if he had to put a dollar figure on that rifle, it'd come to about 4 grand but it definitely does shoot. It must be nice to have such resources! -Rod-
