Is a bench rest style action (square tang/ flat bottom) required to be competitive / have accuracy?

I'm at the hind of this post. I grew up shooting benchrest with an XP-100 or a 700 sleeved action. The sleeve was flat at the bottom and square at the tang, no need for a recoil lug. At that time aluminum was thought to absorb more vibration, hence most sleeves were built out of aluminum. There I dated myself!! LOL! With that said a flat bottom action is more accurate! For the last 3 years I've won our local turkey shoot(100yards) by putting my 40x 30BR (round bottom action) into a round bottom stock (BR stocks not allowed). I shoot URBR with this same rifle that averages 14-16X with the three inch fore-end stock and the round action. I really think it comes down to the three B's, barrels, brass, and bullets. BTW this barrel has over 4000 rounds! My two centavos!

I believe it is bedding, barrels, and bullets. At least in my experience! Meant in jest.

Well went ahead and ordered a F panda. Wondering “what if” would keep me wondering .
What stock will you be using for this Panda Action, for your application. I have one
in a Kestros and I think it works really well...just curious.

In cross the course shooting in the 70’s and 80’s Remingtons were thought as 2nd class rifles and to be competitive. If you didn’t shoot a Winchester, you could not be competitive by many’s standards.
Staring in the 90’s, winchesters started falling out and today you can only find one in a museum and not the firing line.

Some of us sr shooters aren't allowed to glue in actions. Hunter class. So it comes down to everything else being right.
All you gotta do is bed it with light release compound on it and dont take it out of the stock. Each time you remove it they seem to get more loose.
