Is 300y far enough for a ladder test?

My usual 600yd range wont be available for a little while but I have access to a 300y range. I have always done my ladder tests at 600y, but do you think 300 is far enough to run a ladder on my new 6.5x47?

If you visit erik Cortina's longest running thread on this subject there is a lot to learn on it.

Simple answer - yes. Just be sure, as with all ladder tests, the atmospheric conditions remain the same throughout the testing period.

Yes, so long as you shoot over a chrony and your final load has good es and the velocity changes settle down in the same spot the vertical is good on target. That's how I tune hunting rifles. For competition I still want to go to the distance I will compete at.

+1 to what zfastmalibu said. If you are going to shoot 600 and in, you are probably fine. The problem is, if you are going to shoot 1,000+ you really need to take your loads to that distance. My advice is worth what you paid for it, but I learned the hard way that those last 400 yds. really make a lot of difference on what your final load is.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd
