Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters held our annual IR50/50 Championships at Sac Valley Shooting Center this past weekend in the heart of the Ione Triangle.
Weather was reasonably mild for this time of the year, temps starting in the low 60's early, climbing to the mid 80's by midday.
We started Saturday morning with the California State Championship with 11 shooters joining us for the fun. 3 cards at 50 yards started the competition with very light breezes, reflected in some nice scores for our little corner of the world.
Card 1 had three 250's with 3-Gun specialist Dennis Difeo who drove down from the Northland to throw a smooth 250-20x down besting Pierre Bigras 250-19x, and Ron Chisick's 250-15x. Card 2 had Pierre backing it up with another 250-16x, beating
Mike Dedman who came over the mountain from Reno to join us with 250-14x. Mike came out on top in Card 3 with the only 250 a 16x.
3-Card 50 Yd: 1st: Pierre Bigras 747-49x, Mike Dedman 747-41x, Dennis Difeo 746-49x.
We moved the frames back to 50 meters and shot the 2nd 3-Card as the conditions picked up to the usual frisky conditions we are accustomed to and the scores reflected it.
Card 1 was taken by Francis Lee with a 248-16, Card 2 was won by Dennis with a 247-14x, Card 3 was a coin flip between Marcus & Pierre both with 248-15-6FM.
3-Card 50 Meters: 1st: Marcus Byrne, 2nd: Francis Lee 739-30x, 3rd: Pierre Bigras 736-33

1st: Pierre Bigras 1483-82x California State Champion
2nd: Marcus Byrne 1483-76x
3rd: Dennis DiFeo 1482-81x
12 shooters were greeted Sunday morning by another beautiful day, albeit a little more condition, more like normal for this time of the year with that switchy out of the NW-W and the occasional letup/reverse to keep you honest. (See pics)
We started with the 50 Meter Agg and Card 1 was taken by Francis with a 249-15x, Card 2 was Marcus getting back in form with a 250-15x being Brett Berger who had a 250-11x, Card 3 also taken by Marcus with a 248-16x
3-Card 50 Meters: 1st: Marcus Byrne 747-44x, 2nd: Pierre Bigras 745-42x, 3rd: Randy Kirkbride 743-40x
We moved the frames back to 50 yards and rolled right in to the 2nd 3-Card with the conditions tricky but readable.
(Well for some of you!)
Card 1 was won by Dennis with a very nice 250-17x, besting Francis' 250-15x and Randy Kirkbride who had a 250-12x.
Card 2 Dennis again with the only 250 of the card another 17x, Card 3 was Marcus with the only 250 a 12x.
3-Card 50 Yards: 1st: Marcus Byrne 748-44x, 2nd: Dennis Difeo 747-45x, 3rd: Mike Dedman745-39x.
FYI, these reflect the correct results, when I did the awards I somehow skipped over Dennis' score.
Sorry about that, what can I say but my brain was fried by then! I'll mail you your award.

I would like to thank all of the participants for the help I got with everyone chipping in where needed, since I was flying solo in Dan's absence, special shout out to to Brett Berger for helping me with the computer/printer issues.
