hi there lays has anyone work with the ipod useing the ballistic calculation for bullet drop if yes how do i get start it and what do i need what is it like to work with i shoot with a 6mmbr blaser rifle can anyone help please

I believe the program you are looking for is KAC-Bullet Flight by Knights Armorment. It can be found on the Apple site. Three versions are available, a lower end for $3.99 US, a mid level for $11.99, and a upper end for $29.99 US.

Also check out Ballistic. I have it but only played around with it since I only recently bought a chrono and haven't had the time to go shoot. From what I've read on other fora, it is considered better than the KAC program, though I haven't compared them.

The 8 GB I-Pod touch will run any and all of the ballistics programs and still have enough memory for a few hundred songs.
Once you purchase your Touch you will also need I-Tunes on your computer, you connect the two together via the provided cable and download the ballistic,s) program,s) as an application .
Do not be discouraged, the I-tunes software guides you through the whole process…Hope this helps

From what I've read their calculations are spot-on. The upcoming version of Ballistic will also add the ballistics calculation model from JBM Ballistics, in addition to its own internal model, which I think is also available open-sourced peer reviewed code, so people can verify its correctness. The quality of the code is not changed by merely running on a smaller platform. The math is fairly straightforward,for math people), it's just a matter of taking into account all the variables, and coding it correctly.

Put another way, the quality of the output is largely determined by the quality of the inputs, and you don't need to worry that much about the sausage-making process in-between. If you, say, mis-read the wind speed, the calculated result may be different from observed result, but you can't blame the software for that.

The biggest variable in any ballistics software, IMO, is the BC, which is disclosed by the bullet makers and which may be estimates, computer calculations, or averages, or may just vary from bullet to bullet. Variances in this number will give the greatest deviation of observed results, much more so than how 'good' the software may be. No software, or shooter, can do much about that unless you have a doppler radar and can do some empirical testing.

If you input the correct data the Ipod / Iphone ballistics apps will do everything the big name,high priced computer programs will do and then some.

I am the author of the KAC program.

The UI of BulletFlight is optimized for field use rather than use at home. Everything you need to see at any give time is shown on the screen at once and there is no scrolling.

It does spin drift, Coriolis effect, and has many advanced features. It does a nice looking range-card but also has a range wheel to give a direct answer to what you are currently shooting at. Moreover, the computations are accurate and it does things that most other programs don't, such as factors in the sight-in weather as well as the current shooting weather. So if you sight in at 5000 feet altitude and then shoot at sea level, that is handled automatically.

Features are added as people request them which happened a lot at first but now people mostly just sent stories about how they are using it.

I just looked at the web site, this is what I've been waiting for. It looks like a guy would have to buy his own ipod and then figure out how to use it and down load software. I know that I could do all of that but when it comes to ecectronic gadgets sometimes you ask yourself, don't I know how to do to many things already. I'm wondering it there isn't a field ready unit option.

I despise Cell phones to the point that I know for a fact that handheld cell jammers are availiable on the internet.
Having said this, I bought an IPhone mostly for this software and the reason I went with the IPhone instead of the IPod Touch was due to having internet anywhere that cell signal is present. Having the internet makes it an easy affair to get rough estimates of temp, barrometric pressure, humidity, etc. Also, the Maps app on the IPhone will get you elevation from the built in gps. ALL of this data can then be correctly input to the ballistics software for more accurate results.

I tried Bullet Drop with an AR-15 I have that is chambered for 450 Bushmaster at the range and went ONLY by the calculated results from the ballistics software to place 1 shot at 100 then 1 shot at 200 (which is about the useful extent of the 450 Bushmaster round). The softawre told me to dial in 2.25moa for the change in distance and the rifle is sighted in at 100yrds....Both shots were in the bullseye. That is good enough for me. For those of you not familiar with the 450.....at 200, it drops just over 2" but at 300, it drops about 2 feet! LOL 0.21 BC on that 250gr .452 dia slug just isnt much of a long range ordeal.

Bought the middle software and played a little with it. Had to download the Itunes library to the itouch so they can listen to something Christmas morning, tomorrow actually. Looks like a neat program. Besides, can't afford the service for one of those phones

I have been using both Bulletsflight and Ballistic FTE for a couple months. I have tested the results out to 600 yards, and they are VERY CLOSE! Either program works very well, it comes down to personal preferance of the interface.
