And it is becomes so predicable....to the point where you can read the post and you and can pretty much know who the author is. The constant ranting and raving of impending doom and gloom and "I'm right and you're wrong" only lessens ones credibility. Also scanning the Internet for videos or articles to back up ones believe system lends itself to prove there is no shortage of crazies in this world. Ray

I'll take that as a complement from you Eddie, I find that a better service then trolling around on said posts saying that our fellow gun enthusiasts are crazies and need not worry about the political climate.. I would give you more credit then a troll, but you never offer any sort of wisdom other then the negative posts you seem to enjoy.. I'll go back to pounding my chest for what I believe in and you, who knows what you truly believe.. At least everyone knows where I stand and it isn't cowardness..

whatever you say, but I am going to a gun show in the morning. If I have the $$$ to buy an AR-15, or Glock in 45 acp, I can pay the person for it, and walk right out the door. No paperwork.

As an Australian, I don't find our laws as bad as the majority of countries out there (In the states I have lived in anyway).
I know people who live near me and own over a hundred rifles, shot guns and pistols. We do have to apply for a permit to acquire which can take a few weeks, but some have a few permits in at once if they are after a few guns. Our gun shops are usually fully stocked with all types of primers and powders, so we have not felt the shortage many countries have.
The restrictions we have are that we cannot own machine guns at all. To own a semi auto, we need a pretty good reason such as pest control on a large property. We cant own large calibre pistols (in most states anyway I think). We don't have the open laws which USA have but the restrictions we do have don't affect most of us in practice.
In the mean time, I have a friend coming over from USA in a month, I hope to take some time off mid week to get him out to a few of the 10 or so F class ranges within 3 hrs drive.

To an American your post sound a lot like this theoretical scenario. Let's say America overturned the 4th amendment; the one which has to do with unreasonable search and seizures.

I might say, "Well it's inconvenient when the cops knock on my door at dinner time to have a look around, but they're always polite. They wipe their jack-boots before walking on my carpet and when they root around in my wife's underwear drawer I've never seen them sniff her panties...... not even once. The never find anything of course since I'm a law abiding citizen, but I'm happy that they come every few weeks because it makes me think they must also be visiting the crack houses in Chicago at least once a year or so. It hasn't reduced crack sales or the violence associated with drugs, but since I have nothing to hide why should I mind if the police snoop around my house as long as it's not more than once a month? And even though they can now take stuff if they want to, they never take anything of value except unimportant things like a little bit of food or something to drink. Sometimes they take my steaks and last month they took a nice bottle of whiskey, but that's not normal. Usually they just take a cookie or doughnut or two. All in all I don't think we really needed that outdated 4th amendment and if someday it helps reduce crack use, it's worth it to me."

Firearms restrictions in other countries are an eye opener. That is what Hillary, Schumer and co. are all about. That is the reasonable gun controls they keep chirping about. They have not quit in years and they have incrementally raised the bar of owning firearms. They will continue to do so because it is who they are. They have attacked firearms, ammunition and even manufacturing as well as the consumer.

Until liberalism is defeated the constitution will always be under attack. I wish everyone would buck up and join the NRA and their state organizations as well. It is only through their continued efforts that we have any say in the process.

Governments are money hogs. Through licenses and fees the controlling agencies become stand alone entities that have no oversight. This is government's overreach and it must be stopped. This has been going on for years but Obama has brought new meaning to weaponizing the government.

Why we want firearms and what for is none of the government's business. Any control flies in the face of the constitution and the Declaration of Independence. All government agencies must be held accountable for their actions.

I do remember Bill Clinton congratulating our then Prime Minister John Howard for implementing gun control in '96. The Clinton/Sorros nexus really became apparent some years later when the Port Arthur 'exercise' was investigated by Andrew Macgregor. The US did well to elect Donald Trump. Your concerns about Hillary Clinton were well founded when it comes to gun control.

I am in total agreement with Catshooter on this. In 1968 the anti's were on the verge of getting national registration. In good faith the NRA pressured legislators to formulate the 1968 gun control bill which averted registration and was hailed by the antis as the last form of gun control they would ever need or ask for.

Unfortunately it takes a "big money" political organization to have any sway with our government. The NRA isn't perfect but it is the closet thing we have to a united front for gun rights.

Its a fact, the gun control law of 1968 if used, is the only law
ever needed.
If a convicted felon attempts to purchase or does purchase
a firearm, its a crime. If this law isnt enforced, why pile another on top in an attempt to restrict lawful transactions by complying citizens.
On the form 4473 if you answer all questions truthfully, there
is no other questions that can be added to make the purchase anymore safe, or legal.
