Interesting 221

Recently picked up a 221 on gunbroker. The action looked shorter in the picture than an xp-100 or model 7. Its quite a bit shorter. They didnt have a picture with the action open so I wasnt sure if it was a single shot or a repeater. The bolt is the one in front, the other one is an xp-100 for reference. Bolt body is 1" shorter than the xp.

Interesting! I googled it and didn’t find anything under model 600 XL. Wonder if it’s a new release-can you tell anything by the serial #? If not it may be an experimental version-and very rare. Trigger doesn’t look like either the Walker version or the x-mark either.

Where did you see another? Ive never seen any like it but that doesnt mean a whole lot. I dont think its a new gun. Might be a prototype or something like it.

Is that the serial #1-XL? It would seem that would be worth more than you paid for it. I would think that if that is a true Remington action, the XL would stand for an experimental version,

One of a kind x 2.
Somebody @ Remington had a custom made toy.
From the looks of that "shorter action", almost a perfect candidate for a re chamber to my 20 MGM Wildcat. (necked down to 20, 22 TCM)
Hate to replace/mess with that beautiful barrel work.
I could shoot it as a single load and shoot.
Maybe if you were lucky and the stars were aligned, you could get the Remington Custom shop to build you a toy of your choice??

Looks like a miniature model 600 … never have I seen one and I ve been around almost as long as dirt

Amazing. It looks like they even had the plastic 600/660 trigger guard made in a smaller version.
