Interest in Weatherby Mark V actions?

Guys, I have a brand new Mark V action I would like to sell. Bought complete rifle probably 10 years ago with big plans to build a 338 Lapua long range rig and now I have totally lost interest in the project. Was a 338/378 so the bolt and magazine will work for 338 Lapua. I removed the barrel but still have it if you wanted. I never fired it. I also have 2 Mcmillan stocks for it for sale. A-5 inletted for Mark V with #8 barrel channel painted camo. Weatherby pattern molded in color sendero barrel channel. I am asking $1200 shipped for the action and $400 for the A5 and $300 for the other. I will provide additional pics asap. Thank you. 100_0529.JPG

The A5 is weighted and will advise weight tomorrow. Both have molded in pillars. Both are as new.100_0530.JPG

Randy, I’m also in Texas, I’m liking that camo stock. Unless there’s a defect hidden from the picture, I’d take it.

Please pm me.

Do those tiny lugs have more surface area than the current big actions like he mentioned? How many are actually making contact at any given time? As far as bolt thrust, ive never seen a bolt shear and slide out the back, rather the rifle peels like a banana

What's the story here? Wrong powder, stuck bullet?

I've never read or heard of another current action manufacturer that has subjected there action to pressures like this, and the action still function.

Like @jackieschmidt speaks too reference action materials, I'd be interested in learning if this specific action was a chromoly, or stainless, and where this specific action was manufactured.

"Further testing was conducted with a 180 gr (12 g) bullet lodged into the throat of the barrel. A cartridge loaded with the standard charge of 78 gr (5.1 g) of Du Pont 4350 and a 180 gr (12 g) bullet was fired into the back of the first bullet. It was found that both bullets exited the barrel. The primer had been pierced and the exiting gas entered into the bolt and hit the firing pin sleeve, which was loosened slightly. The bolt was opened by hand but the cartridge stayed stuck in the chamber. When the case was tapped out, it was found to be in good condition except for its pierced primer. It was found that the barrel, just in front of the receiver ring, had expanded from 1.147 in (29.1 mm) to 1.1496 in (29.20 mm). The diameter of the bolt head had expanded from .7178 in (18.23 mm) to .7190 in (18.26 mm). The head space had increased from .2163 in (5.49 mm) to .2174 in (5.52 mm). All other dimensions had stayed constant. This test was conducted 15 times. A test was conducted with a 220 gr (14 g) bullet lodged into the bore of the rifle and a 180 gr (12 g) grain bullet was fired into the back of this bullet. The result of this test found that the cartridge case head had expanded to .545 in (13.8 mm). After these additional 15 tests it was found that the head space was set back only a mere .001 in (0.025 mm).[4] "
