Installing pillars in a scoville carbon fiber stock

Border Ghost
Have two carbon fiber stocks , actions are glued in , Can I remove the actions and install pillars in these scoville stocks , want to install my own barrels , have not got the experience yet to be able to do the glue ins , can do them with the actions out.
thx

I shouldn't post because I'm not answering your question but can't help it.
If you are doing your own chamber work take the time to learn how.
I wouldn't take these actions out. What are the actions?

My advise is to learn how to duplicate the tenon of the old barrel. Those stocks have a balsa wood core that has no strength. If you want to put in pillars I would cut through the skin and remove some wood around where the pillars would go then fill the void with chopped fiberglass and epoxy. The pillars can then be installed. Basically you need a strong material that will bridge from the pillars to the carbon fiber skin. Then you will also want some type of recoil lug. I would NOT recommend doing this. If you decide to do this, let me know. A friend of mine builds those stocks and I'll get his advise as well.

Or sell them to me. Scoville stocks are hard to come by
Butch Lambert was emailing a PDF that had several different methods of chambering match barrels. It also had details on how to make your own tooling to be able to duplicate your chambers

Also consider that when your action was glued in, it may well have been roughened up to promote better adhesion. I have a BAT M that was roughened up with a belt sander and I'd guess 80 grit. I think it would be a poor candidate for pillar bedding now.

If I can learn to rebarrel glue-ins you can. Its really not that bad. You can make your tenon measuring jig. Purchase a 3/4" ball bearing for measuring cones for $5. You will need to get a thread mic or wires. You probably already have a depth mic.

You can buy a Panda threaded insert and one from Stiller. These 2 have been my thread checkers on my Bat, Stiller, and Stolle barrels. I have thread mics now, but the inserts never failed me as thread checkers.
