Installing Bipod Picatinny

I am upgrading an older HS Precision stock to incorporate a Seekins SRS bipod rail.

The stock has only one swivel stud on the forearm. I will be drilling a second hole and installing / countersinking a Tnut along the inside of the barrel channel. Any idea how the original factory hole is supported? Is there some form of threaded anchor underneath the factory bedding???

I have watched several videos and I have seen both:
(1) Drilling a new 2nd hole and using the original factory hole (without modification).
(2) Drilling a new 2nd hole and then re-drilling the original hole. Tnuts are installed into both holes.

The bedding block on mine whent all the way thru the stock so i just drilled it thru with a #21 drill and tapped it 10-32.
I cant remember how thick the aluminum block inside is but probably 3/8 to a1/2 it works great mine was tapped for a 3" front rest attachment i made.

Thanks - that is a great answer. Sure enough after I removed the factory sling stud the hole was nice shiny metal underneath the exterior shell. A pleasant surprise compared to videos I watched My install just got easier!

Next challenge - where to store the bag of #10-32 Tnuts so that I can find them in the future

My stock is the HS Precision Police Stock made for Remington for a few decades. The forearm is medium width with gradual curved bottom and the buttstock is the traditional tapered profile. If I were to get a new stock I might consider one that had a flat bottom along buttstock (bag rider).

As far as the forearm profile and picatinny rail, there is a flat area (3/4” wide) down the center length. If you stock has only one sling stud then can use either model. You can use the Seekins SRS picatinny: (1) HS Precision model (radiused bottom on picatinny rail) or (2) Bell & Carlson model (flat bottom on picatinny rail).

If you have HS Precision stock with two sling studs then the SRS Rail HS Precision model has hole spacing that matches the stock’s factory stud pattern.
