Bipod stud mount

I have a question about installing a stud for a bipod on my Smith and wesson optic ready ar15.
Can the stud be screwed into the threaded hole under the gas block... see attached picture..

Does that threaded hole have a setscrew in it? If your stud is the same thread it wont hurt a thing

I haven't ordered the stud bolt yet, was trying to get a better idea if it would work before ordering. I just went back and looked and there is no set screw that I can see

Buy the Browning hand guard sling set and install it in your hand guard per instructions. Works very well and you can install it yourself.

Would advise against this, you don't want your barrel to be subject to loading from the bi-pod. Accuracy will suffer. Free floating an AR barrel is essential to having an accurate AR.

Connect the bi-pod to your hand guard. If your AR is in "service rifle" configuration purchase and install a float tube which free floats the hand guards.

I take it a drop in guard wouldn't be a true free float ....correct

Its not floated anyway so go for it.

Depends on whether the guard touches the barrel or not.
