Insane Gunbroker Price on H4895

If only we can all get together and stop buying these expensive powders. Someone should get everyone on board and have a Union like force. The prices would turn around for the better. I can not and will not pay 200 hundred a pound.
just my 2 cents…..

Problem is Hodgon now owns the brand names for almost every powder brand
out there.

So Hodgon can charge whatever they want.

That's like asking all the truckers to get together and shut the country down for one week. The trucking industry has this country by the shorthairs if they could all get together and not have one truck roll for a whole week. It's all a pipedream because it will never happen.

You'd have scabs trying to run not thinking of the greater good.

Scabs in trucking? 90 percent of the freight in this country is hauled by independent owner operators. LTL carriers make a very small percentage of overall freight. Believe it or not that's the way it is. Deregulation occurred quite a few years ago....independents run the majority of freight.

The Canadian truckers shut Canada down until Trudeau stepped in....liberal ass. All over the covid shot that doesn't work. The truckers didn't want it! And you constantly need boosters. A money scam from pharma and investors....what a joke. Subsidized by the taxpayers!

Mike your 90 percent is WAY OFF. It's more like 9 percent of Owner/Operators either have their own authority or are leased to big companies. Just look it up for yourself.

Jim I agree, it will never happen. That doesn't change the fact we could shut down the big H if we ALL went fishing or played golf for a year and bought no powder. However the greed and arrogance of some will never allow this to happen. Hey, I found out shooting little group's or good scores with a Springer air rifle works for me just like powder burners, LETS all shoot only AIRGUNS for a year . I bet powder prices get REAL pretty quickly the following year.

Ya Dave it's a nice thought. With a war going on that we are involved with it wouldn't matter if every reloader stopped buying components for the rest of our lives because reloaders only account for about 15 percent of the total market sales of components. These companies don't care and why should they. They are in business to make a profit and ammo is where it's at not selling components to people who load their own stuff. Remember Rock Creek Barrels? When I first got into score shooting there were a lot of people using RC barrels. Then they got a Government contract an they stopped making certain 30 caliber barrels like 17 & 18 twist that score shooters use to buy. Now you rarely see one on the equipment list unless somebody had bought some blanks years ago like I did. Again RC is in business to make a profit.

When it was impossible to find powder or primers. I bought several 8# jugs as well as several bricks of primers from this guy. Had him ship some and met him to buy some. Not sure if he has what you are looking for but I would definitely give it a try. He’s also on this forum. Hope this helps49BD9091-FF14-4C5C-9B1F-E393532AC764.png

Independent owner operators leased to companies. How is my 90 percent way off? They are all 1099 employees.

Jim,
Im ready for your pissing contest. I have been and still am in the industry for the last 35 years. You unfortunately are wrong . The largest truckload carriers in the country including the company I represent which has 12000 trucks. All are owner operators. 1099s with door signs. This is the way it is now!

Ups and fedex are primarily LTL..Xpo is Primarily LTL. Their truckload sectors are all brokerage...to guess who?

Did some research on this subject overnight. The avg percentage of freight hauled by owner/operators is roughly 70%. A little lower than you said but way higher that I thought it would be Mike. Things have really changed since I have been out of this industry.

Jim,
No worries. Good discussion to make the rest aware of. I believe the percentage is actually higher. They have no way to account for carriers who have brokerage authority, brokering to owner ops. If you look at the inbound container freight alone, it is all hauled by 1099s with door signs. That tonnage alone dwarfs all the LTL carriers combined. And then rehauled throughout its life, through distribution centers to the end of line. LTL carriers seem large, but they are small in comparison. Have a good day!
Mike
