@AlNyhus :where does one get this? "You can also get the 'Panda' spacer fron Kelbly's so you can use barrels done to the common 1.115" 'Panda' head space." - presuming call Kelblys?Rick, if you want it to be an ejector, I'd sure recommend a right eject. One thing to consider about a left port is that the left side of you face will be exposed to the port. Also, with a left port, rt eject you can sometimes get a 'toss through' if the rt ejection port is big enough.
The type of ejector is also important. A 700 style can be tuned to roll the cases out the side. Some others depend on the speed of the bolt manipulation.
Owning and having shot both styles for quite a few years now, my suggestion would be a right bolt/right port with a 700 style ejector. They are every bit as fast when you need it. For easy feeding, the coned bolt option is a must.
Lots of actions available in this config with a Rem foot print, too. I love my Kelbly Atlas single shot with the coned bolt. You can also get the 'Panda' spacer fron Kelbly's so you can use barrels done to the common 1.115" 'Panda' head space. Super interchangability and no need to send your action to have a barrel fitted. The Rem footprint openes up a ton of stock options, too. It's at the top of your price point but worth it. They can do them with a standard finish rather than nitrided if you like a little bling.
For what it's worth.... -Al
Yes...Kelbly's can supply it. It's .173" thick to work with the .250" lug and the .692" Atlas headspace. -Al@AlNyhus :where does one get this? "You can also get the 'Panda' spacer fron Kelbly's so you can use barrels done to the common 1.115" 'Panda' head space." - presuming call Kelblys?

I’ve two of their actions, a “Tube Gun” and one in my F Open 280AI that with the spare bolt will become a 7PRCW next barrel change.Pierce Engineering
I've bought 3 tube gun actions from them each just under $1K - including nitriding.Pierce Engineering
I thought Weatherby and budget couldn't be used in the same sentence.I'm going to order one of these to test. Might be a good ultra budget action for my customers.

I mean. Wow. That's a great price. $50 off if you order a reamer too
For a nice hunting rifle I’d be all over a 307 action. Weatherby hit the nail on the head with this one. It's a Remington 700.
Even says it holds headspace. Looks like they knew EXACTLY what the market was looking for.
