Absolutely

Green mountain blanks aren’t bad, a friend actually laps them.
I bought a .224 1-7 a while back for a AR barrel project and it’s actually shooting moa or better with basically no load development other than a speed test.

Douglas is less expensive than? When I called them to look at stocking their barrels, their cost price, even in bulk, was pretty much the same as everyone else.

I am curious. Other than Ragged Hole Barrels, who else was supplying this now "unavailable" supply of Wilson contours to gunsmiths?

My friend bought a bunch of Green Mountains on sale. I was asked to borescope them. They looked good. Most were not lapped, but they looked good, certainly as good as most OEM barrels, for whatever that is worth. I bet they shoot just fine.

I know at least one guy that buys "budget" (whatever that means) blanks from Criterion.

They used to be cheaper than criterion for a prefit.

Cost quoted to me for buying contoured blanks in bulk was something like $350 each.

Stan sent me prefits for less when he was running things, but I suppose things have gone up like everything else. Who knows.

My friend laps the ones he buys but the ones I’ve gotten weren’t.
They weren’t as rough as some savage barrels though.

I've used several Green Mountain barrels on my AR. Some shot exceptionally well, others not as much - i.e., just over an inch at 100 yards.
I've found Wilson AR barrels [ around 20 of them from White Oak] to be much more consistent.

GM sent me 4 barrels to test of their highest offering 416SS turned on centers and lapped blanks. 224, 6mm, 6.5 and 308

They absolutely hammered.. ill post a link to my testing
