Indicating 5R Barrel

I dial in directly. Get close on the outside then go inside. With screws finger tight I get close again. Then I look at total swing on the dial. I use the zero as the middle and then when I'm at one extreme I move the saddle to split the total.
Example
Finger tight I have .008" total
Rotate barrel till I'm on either the +/- side.
Move the saddle till the indicator is either +4 or -4
Tweak screws until you get to zero.
For me a 4 groove takes longer because I do so few of them.
I use a pin gage on the muzzles.

You can slide the proper bushing in the barrel where you want it, then indicate inside the bushing. Then a small amount of fine tune direct.
How exactly do you do this- indicate two locations (say, just inside the breech end and the throat), with a single bushing?

Which has caused the rare idea to pop into my head- why not 3" (or so) bushing to slide in? No more bouncing over lands and grooves... fitment is irrelevant (within reason) as the bushing will ride at the bottom of the bore, just like using a Grizzly rod.

Some of us indicate front and rear of barrel (if the barrel can stick out through the back of the spindle enough)
so one indicator at one end (Breach) , and another indicator at the muzzle
---
As opposed to indicating in 2 spots at only one end
---
the bushing can be used at the muzzle when indicating in for crown work
if a chamber is already cut, no need for a bushing, just indicate inside the chamber

That’s what I was thinking that. Not a big fan of that
I dont understand?
The bushing would not be so tight in the barrel that it would hurt the cleaning rod
usually they have approx .0002" clearance or even if it was tighter, the bushing should not be a press in fit
--->(which I would not be a fan of)
However, I have also made my own Pilot Bushings out of brass
which a person could also use for the dialing in a barrel purpose, use a brass bushing sized to the bore
---
I have used my Dewey which is a stout rod, to pound out stuck bullets
---
So I am not understanding why not use the cleaning rod to simply push out a pilot bushing?
---
Compressed air could likely blow the bushing out too with ease
