Went with a friend to a friends private range and work on indexing some bullets.
Three tuner movement and got them all into one hole. Heat wasn't bad and humidity good . I hope I can remember what I did Saturday . Larry
Pointed end toward the shooter . LarryHow do you know which way to index bullets?
It kind of makes sense that a 6 o'clock index could be a little easier on the front bag.
Have you ever seen a gun owner that isn't?

The indexing is done with smiths that use a range rod or simulator rod . They adjust the barrel to where it is straight down the bore . The muzzle end when the rod is installed normally moves off center from the chamber end . They time it at 12 or 6 . Then they headspace when the barrel to the action where the muzzle ends up At 6 or 12. The other thing that happens all the threading and chambering is done of the true bore .Trying to learn, what are you guys indexing at 12.or 6 clock? Are you checking the inner diameter of the muzzle with a indicator and looking for run-out ?.
