Increasing the diameter of a copper bullet

Does anyone have any suggestions how to increase the diameter of my Barnes .311 copper bullets? I have a bore that slugs at .3115" my initial ladder test and then test loads within the node are not promising. I think I need to increase the diameter of the bullet. Do you think I should wrap teflon tape around it or dip it in liquified PC paint and size or try to plate it?

The rifle is a T99 Arisaka and I want an accurate CA hunting round for it. Heavier Hornady bullets group well through it. Boy, those Hammer Bullets are expensive. I forced a lead slug through the barrel and measured it from groove to groove with a Harbor Freight micrometer as .3115". My initial test load was with R19 and I plan to retest using R15 next time. But, the bullet diameter is like the Speer 150-.311 bullets which didn't group well through this rifle either.

How fast are you expecting to push these bullets? I don't know how it holds up over about 2400fps, but I powder coat 9MM .355 bullets and then have to push them through a Lee bullet sizing die to get them back down to .357. They shoot well out of my Henry Big Boy.

If you have a T99 with the original barrel and chamber (7.7 x 58mm), it is likely a .312 bore.

Grandpa had one from Attu. We never shot it.

I got the best accuracy with TTSX bullet (130 gr in 300winmag) at maximum velocities. Accuracy improved only at max load and far from the lands. Pushed them at 3,550 fps (24"bbl) and jumped them more than 0.200" from the lands.

First, you're almost surely beyond the variance of the HF mic. Heck...measure enough bullets and you'll likely see .0005" variance.

And if that is the difference, it's not likely the culprit.

As was said, Barnes are known to be finicky. My experience is the same...push wm hard and jump em far.

Gotta keep in mind copper solids are light for length when compared to lead. Maybe not the right twist and bullet weight for stabilization.

I'd put the HF mic away and check stability and then do a big seating depth test.
