In regard to bore diameter and Jackie's test

Here's a question that keeps coming up. In a 6MM fast twist barrel do you go with a .236 or a .237 bore for the heavier bullets?

Krieger's position is that a .236 bore is needed to help with the spin of the bullet.

Others feel a .236 engraves the jacket too much and spec a .237 bore.

So who's right and who's wrong and what do most of the top shooters spec in regard to bore diameter?

What's the barrel for Jackie's test measure?

The test barrel is a .237" at Jackie's request.

When I asked Krieger about it, they said they didn't have a strong opinion one way or the other.

I just bought a 6mm barrel from Broughton. I dos not say what the ID is.
The invoice states: 243 Cal 8 twist 5c groove
416R S.S. Broughton Rifle Barrel Blank
1.25 X 32 with a 7.97 Contour
.2432 X .2732
S/N 3611

What does .2432 X .2732 signify?

Chuck

My Broughton barrel invoice has .2432 X .2370 .And 1.065 x 30 with a straight contour, for Savage ). and shoots very well and cleans very easy. Art

Gunamonth....You are NOT a pain at all, I am very curious about this myself. Broughton bbls were well represented at all of the long range prone shoots I shot last year. Five of my buddies have switched from Krigers to Broughtons They are shooting lights out with them.

...........Still I am going to give Tim North a call.

PS. There is an article about Broughton in this months Precision Shooting.

PPS Broughton closed this week.
