IMR vs H 4895

IMR 4895 is a tad slower burning than H4895. They are BOTH "stick powders", however, IMR 4895's "sticks" are noticeably longer than H4895. When I was prairie dog hunting, I never found IMR 4895 to be any LESS sensitive to temp changes than most of the "extreme" Hodgdon powders. I know that IMR 4895 will produce HIGH velocities in many cases. In my 22-250 and .220 Swift, it was sizzling! It has always been a VERY accurate powder in all the rifles I have used it in.

Well that's good my friend just gave me 8lbs of imr4895.

Surely it will work till the varget laden sparrows migrate north again.

I'm wanting to try some IMR 4895 in my 6br with 105 grain bullets. I've shot H4895 in it and know it will shoot an f class string of 20 + sighters accurately and no issues. The reason for IMR 4895 is more speed for this rifle, it's for steel and PRS matches.

I stand corrected, Sierra said they are NOT the same. At one time they did tell me they are the same. But what's the difference, now they say they aren't.

I agree , if by the same you mean different . lol
