1-8" twist 22-250rem loads

I am looking for tested loads for a 22-250 Rem with a 1-8" twist using 80gr bullets . Presently loading 80.5 gr Bergers with IMR 4007 SSC . Load testing and Choreographing presently . Intend on loading with H4350 . May try Varget .

I was shooting 80 gr SMK's over 36.5 gr of IMR 4831 in Lapua brass with BR2 primers with the bullet seated at the lands in a Shilen select match 30" 1-8" twist barrel with no signs of excess pressure. Velocity was 3200 fps. It was very accurate even to 1000 yds. It was short lived as the barrel went south at about 1300 rounds. This is for info only- you should work up to it to be safe. My loads were used at 5000' elevation.

Howdy !

Have you thought about trying VV160 and/or VV560 ?

These are right in-there, between Varget and 4350 on burn rate.

VV560 is supposed ot be @ its best, when used with heaviset bullets in each calibre.

That search feature is a beautiful thing. Also, I posted Berger load data for 22-250 in a thread under 22caliber forum titled 22-250a.I.??
Good luck

Thank you for the info . I have been shooting 35.5 grs of IMR4007ssc . - 80.5 gr Bergers at 3250 fps . trying 34.5 next . A touch of sticky and on a cool day . Varget is next as I figure less pressure and cold weather friendly . Hoping it shoots as well as the 4007 which is very accurate . By the pressure loading charts pressure equals heat and barrels going as you say south at 1300 rds . Fact is the 22-250 - 1-8" heavy bullets 3200 fps has a barrel life of what your barrel did at 1300 rds . If you have any other info keep in touch . Thanks for your efforts
