IMR 7828

Anyone using IMR7828 in a .300WM? I am interested in your experience.

I used IMR 7828 SSC in my .300 WSM but it developed more velocity than I could manage with 230 Hybrids. It should be an excellent powder in .300 WM. It is pretty dense and a little slower than H4831 SC.

Some people may think all IMR powders are too temperature sensitive. I have used a lot of 7828SSC in my 284 Shehane and I found it to be very stable under match conditions. I'd certainly give it a try.

To second what Tony wrote: My 7828 SSC loads were very accurate, low ES and well within acceptable pressure limits. I just could not reliably shoot 230 Hybrids accurately at that velocity. (~2950)

Works with the heavy bullets for getting good speeds. whether or not you can find accuracy with it is unknown.

I concur with the voices above. It is my go-to powder in my 30-06 Ackley; it works very well under the Berger 185 Juggernaught (2,900 fps from 27" barrel). I've had no temp. related issues living here in teh desert. (Las VEgas).

I have a lot of it left over from 7mm Mag. loading. I might give it a try with heavy bullets in a .30-06 and .300WM.

Bill, I ran it in a 7mm RM and the accuracy matched the H4831 load that was best in that barrel. Velocity was increased substantial over the same with similar pressure signs but I ended up caving to the "Temperature Stability" Kool Aid and loaded the H4831. :-\

This was shot last sunday, checking my come ups for elk season.
Shot off the hood with sand bag and leather glove
3 shots at 400 then moved to 500 Temp was about 40.
300 zerro was was shoot at 65. The target is a 3" post'it
