Imr 4451

Hi. I have a 8 lb jug of imr4451. I got it when I was needing

some imr4350 . I got some info from load data .com and my new hornady book,.I started using it instead of 4350 for my 3006AI. I notiecd I need 1 to 2 gr more to equal 4350, which is what the hornady manuels were saying about it for 06. Ihavea 338 375 , or a 375 chattfeild taylor. That shows imr4350. While I could not find data for 4451 Ihave for 4350 imr. So I started using 4451. And noticed the same thing . W hile I would never suggest to anyone to use powder they do not have info on .I just though I would pass this along. This is what I found

I use R-16 for most of my projects, I found an accuracy node
of near the same speed with 4451. To hit 2804, I need 49.2gr of
R-16, where I only need 48.3 of of 4451. I'm seeing 4451 is faster.
Anyone check speeds between H4350 and R-16 ??

I was building a 7mmRM every year, sighting it in with H4350 and shooting a deer. This involved bore cleaning.

Since I got a jugs of IMR44511, IMR4166, Re23, and CFE223, I do not need to clean my bores on a sight in / go hunting trip.

I do have to put up with less powerful powder with all that anti Copper fouling chemical in there.
