image transfer question

To all you fabricators, gunsmiths and artists, can someone answer the following question? How would one, put and image on a piece of 6061 aluminum, that has been powder coated white, so that the image appears black in color? I would like the image to appear as a silhouette if you will. Any help with this process would be appreciated.

Would you recommend that as opposed to laser etching?

Laser etch would probably work, but I would be concerned about 'breaking the seal' of the powder coat. Also I would have to imagine that laser etching would be more expensive, though don't quote me on that one as setup for either would add a signifigant cost unless you were doing multiple parts.

One could have vinyl cut,image) and applied to the stock.
