I'm on board!

OK I can't take the pressure any longer, I have got to have a 6br.!! So with that being said, I just bought a action off of here and am going to build me one! Any tips tricks or advice are welcome! I am going to buy a bartlen for it but I need a twist rate, 105's down to say 70's ?? This thing is going to kill lots of prairie dogs and punch paper ..who know I might even try and shoot in a comp with it ::). Thanks!

Just enjoy it. You are going to have some fun. Like LRPV said, 1 in 8 twist. That will shoot everything up through 108's and all the light stuff as well.
Have fun.

Larry

I am shooting 1 in 9 and it is performing very well with all bullets. Only bullets not tried were the 55 gr. Good Luck

Well, It's about time! For some reason, I thought you already had one. Did you buy that Kelbly repeater? I just shot my third outing, for load developement. I love this cartridge! Get a 1/8 twist. I'm starting with 75 and 105 Hornady amax and vmax. I also have a no turn neck. I turned my first hundred cases and then got another box and didn't turn them. Just shot them yesterday. I'm only shooting at 100, so far, but I couldn't see any difference in the groups between turned and unturned. Good luck! Need that scope back? Josh.

I wish on the kelbly Josh but no :( I bought the SS Remington and I have a nice power polish setup so I'm going to polish it ( don't ask why, I am just different like that) ::) and as far as the scope goes ...maybe we should just toss it back and forth a month at a time..lolol

1-8 twist. Zero freebore. Start with 50s and go heavier as the throat wears. Seat .010 into or just at the lands. Be ready to get bored with the bughole accuracy. 8) 8)

Hey, Caleb: My gun is a Remmy action and it shoots great. I was drooling over the Kelbly, though. I just imposed a "new gun ban" on myself. I have enough unfinished projects that need to get done before I start another one. Thumbs up on the polished action. I like the looks. You should get a no turn neck for your 1/8 twist barrel, but hopefully some smarter guys will chime in here. I've read that .272 was the standard but some guys are trying .2705 with good results. Mine is a used setup and came as a .272. Either way, you could still skim your necks when ya find the time. I looked at my targets again. The group size was the same. Turned vs unturned. The only change was the point of impact dropped an inch. I'm going to skim some and see what that does. This is the first time I have used Lapua brass. It's nice stuff. Wish I hadn't waited so long to get some. I'm not a great shooter so small, subtle changes may go unnoticed by me. Too late, on the scope. I've decided to keep her. Besides, the shipping would kill us.😃 Good luck. Josh.

go ahead and send the bolt to Gre-tan and have it bushed and the factory pin turned for the small primers and you wont have to wait for it latter when you crater primers with mild loads with the Rem bolt,,

I can run my 6.5x47 just as hard now in a 700 after the bush/turn job as I could in a Stiller ,,

Update? How's the progress on your build? Need a stock? I have six blanks ready to mill. These don't have much figure, but still nice walnut. 40 years off the stump. I can work one up for ya! Or are ya going( yeachhh) plastic?
