I'm not lawyer....but if I'm reading this right...good weekend in CA...

Perfectly legal. Most stores that sold them purposefully kept no records.

No requirement for them to keep records.

And yes, they are legal to use for the time being. Any further ban would have to retroactively make the legally purchased hi-cap mags illegal, which is kind of unlikely (though you never know here in Calif.) Reinstating the prior ban would allow them to continue to be used, as far as I can tell.
 
The one thing about using one for self defense in your house... at least you are alive to find out!!!
Well, one cop told me “ use your 10 rounders at the range then don’t clean them. If you then use a 30 rounder to defend your home just scatter the 10 rounders about. The crime lab can only test for residue not the age of the residue.”

I San Diego county, sheriff doesn’t care if you use a standard cap mag in your CCW pistol.
